Our Pioneer Day was not spent in Utah this year, but we still made sure we celebrated with a fun vacation. We headed down to sunny California and stayed with Chris's mom for the whole weekend. We had a great time. On Thursday we went to a place called Heritage Park. It was a cute, historical kid-size village with slides and things to climb on, along with a pond filled with ducks. The kids had a great time feeding the ducks.
There were a lot of other cool things in this museum, like a earthquake shack where we sat down in a booth and they simulated shockwaves from an earthquake, and a place where we could pull our own body weight up by using a different number of pulleys. We also watched a 4-D dinosaur movie. Caleb jumped a couple of times when he thought a dinosaur tail was going to whack his head and when he saw a pterydactyl beak come really close to his eye. There were some fun things here that Matthew could do as well, but it was mostly geared toward older kids.
These next two pictures are cool--they are a shadow of the balloon we're in, and the second gives you an idea of how high up we were.
Caleb found a fun vine to swing on!
After we packed up some food we headed on out to the beach where we played for a little while and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. Caleb had fun jumping the waves with his dad (this was Chris's favorite part), and Matthew had fun playing in the sand. Unfortunately it was too cold for my taste so I stayed out of the water.

That balloon ride looks awesome!! I've always wanted to ride in a balloon. Did it make you airsick or anything? If not: COOL! That looks just so seriously cool.
Thanks for sharing your weekend with us - we had so much fun. I think the baloon ride was the highlight for us, and of course watching all the little "sand bunnies" just play and enjoy life. It was a great time - let's do it again in a couple of weeks!!
What a fun trip! I'm glad you guys got to go visit Chris's family.
Speaking of family...are you guys going to the reunion next week? I hope so. We'd have so much fun chating together! Miss you guys!
Yeeaahhh we found you! I can't believe how big Matthew is already, and they are both so cute! It sure looks like they have paired up to make you very busy parents. We hope everything is well with you guys and let us know whenever you come up here so we can hang out!

It looks like you guys had a lot of fun. The picture that you asked about with Madilyn organizing, she did all of it in both pictures , but I added Norah to the second picture, Mads was already laying by her dolls.
What a cute little family. We never see you guys so I can't even believe how fast your kids are growing up!!! You were the little kid when I married Lance. Am I getting old? Maybe a little. HAve fun in the sun. We missed you at the Black Reunion!
What a fun weekend! What cute boys you have! I saw a link to your blog on Ellie's blog, so thought I'd stop by and see! Sarah (Hess) Anthony
